Tree of Life (6' x 8.5'): This original, handmade plaster artwork is a polyptych made up of 23 pieces that are created using both natural & man-made objects found during environmental clean-ups.This original, handmade plaster artwork is a polyptych made up of 9 main pieces that form the Tree itself, plus 14 other pieces that depict woodland creatures surrounding the Tree. These pieces are designed using both natural and manmade objects found during environmental clean-ups. The found objects are embedded into plaster to create the pieces that form this 6 x 8.5 foot installation. The medium of this artwork (discarded waste) embodies our conviction that we must take a stand to protect our Planet and the lives of all of its creatures by utilizing our resources more responsibly. The discarded objects portray the vital environmental message proclaiming the urgency of keeping our Planet clean and healthy, thereby protecting all forms of life on Earth. The subject depicted in this work (the Tree) is not only a living being itself, but it also is symbolic of life: the Tree (and Life) are always changing, evolving, and branching out into new, unexplored territory. The Tree is also a giver of life: it gives sustenance, shelter, building materials, and oxygen to other forms of life. Humanity literally needs trees in order to breathe and without them, our life on Earth would cease.
